Leadership Matters

Leadership is a word often used, but seldom understood. Leadership is the ability to motivate others to achieve a common and beneficial goal. Leadership should be collaborative and purpose-centered. Most leadership literature discusses management techniques and focuses on a central person. Leadership, however, is a process and leaders can emerge at all levels. Future editions of this column will analyze nontraditional as well as traditional leaders and explore contemporary leadership concepts.
